Ban Ibrahim is writing her MA dissertation, exploring the construction and contestation of 'identity' among second-generation Iraqis living in Britain, and analysing how the 2003 invasion of Iraq may have affected these senses of identity.
As part of her research, she is interviewing people aged 17-25. The interviews are 100% confidential, they are not recorded, and if she uses any of the interviewees' quotes then a pseudonym will be used. The whole thing will only take about 20 minutes, and she is willing to travel to wherever the interviewee is located.

Acclaimed actor and film-maker Ghassan Massoud, who is a speaker at Arab Media Watch's fundraising dinner on 16 September, is in London until 29 August, and is available for interview through AMW on 07956 455 528.
In conjunction with the Arab Club of Britain and the Syrian Arab Association, we are also organising a reception for him on Friday 25 August from 6.30 – 8.30pm at the SAA building, 8 Comeragh Road, London W14 9HP. The event is free, all are welcome.

On 7 August 2006, BBC Newsnight broadcast an item about the alleged doctoring of pictures by a Reuters photographer, in which Richard North, introduced simply as a "blogger", was interviewed.
Having claimed to be following this issue for several days, he was interviewed with Arab Media Watch chairman Sharif Hikmat Nashashibi on Newstalk 106FM a day later. Prior to the interview, AMW found North’s blog "EU Referendum", which revealed a deeply Islamophobic and Arabophobic agenda that colours his often dubious claims.

Complaint upheld over American Jewish Committee ad in Financial Times Monday, August 14, 2006 (992 reads)

The Advertising Standards Authority has upheld a complaint, by Arab Media Watch advisor Zaki Boulos among others, against ad placed in the Financial Times by the American Jewish Committee.
The ad featured a political map of Europe, Asia and Africa, centred on Iran, which was in the middle of two concentric circles that indicated the current and projected range of the country's missile capability. Below the map text stated: "Suppose Iran one day gives nuclear devices to terrorists. Could anyone anywhere feel safe?
