The Arab launched this week, a new English-language magazine dedicated to publishing under-reported, topical issues from across the entire Arab world for an international readership.
The publication will provide readers with a broad spectrum of original stories from the Middle East and North Africa, from a secular, apolitical stance. Topics of pan-Arab relevance will be given priority along with the most pressing issues from individual Arab states.
Every edition will feature high-impact stories seeking to challenge readers' views on this region. The following questions are raised in the launch issue:
The Arab is owned and published by Anna Costin, a British journalist of Syrian descent, who came up with the concept of the publication after spotting a gap in the market for an internationally distributed English-language current affairs magazine focusing on the Arab world.
The Arab stands out from other English-language media on the Middle East and North Africa as it focuses on the entire region; concentrates on quality editorial content with limited advertisements; and is independently owned - linked to neither a large media parent nor any government. Contributors come from both within and outside of the Arab world, to give a balanced voice.
The Arab will be published six times a year, and is targeted at a global readership with an interest in the Arab world; it already has subscribers from the Middle East, Europe and the US, with an equal split between those of Arab and non-Arab origin. It is available by subscription only from www.the-arab.com / telephone: +44 (0)20 7100 6017
