Following is a letter written to the Guardian on 29 August 2008 by Arab Media Watch chairman Sharif Hikmat Nashashibi, in response to a commentary by Israel's ambassador to the UK.
Ron Prosor's hypocrisy knows no bounds (Showboating over Gaza - 28 August 2008). He happily quotes Human Rights Watch regarding Hamas abuses against Palestinians, but blindly defends the far greater Israeli abuses condemned by the organisation in countless reports and press releases. One should not pick and choose whose human rights to support and whose to violate.
Furthermore, his feigned concern for Arab and Palestinian wellbeing fools no one, not least because it is only expressed when fomenting opposition to Iran. When those same "moderates" he claims to embrace criticise Israel, they are only fit for his denigration.
Add to this the factual errors peppered throughout his article, and such double standards, dishonesty and moral bankruptcy should have no place in the Guardian.
