Job opportunity: Civitas project administrator

Project administrator (fulltime, contractual, 9 months -January 15 - September 15, 2005.)

Civitas: A collective research project assessing civic structures for Palestinian refugees

General description

This collective research project will assess how Palestinian refugee communities living in exile in the Middle East, Europe and further afield can build civic structures and mechanisms to enable better communication with their national representative the PLO and its institutions, the humanitarian agencies that serve them, and other refugee communities, both inside and outside Palestine.

Based at Nuffield College, University of Oxford, and directed by Arab Media Watch advisor Dr. Karma Nabulsi, it runs for 18 months from May 7, 2004.

It is almost entirely a volunteer project, run by the communities themselves, and is facilitated by a very small team who are coordinating the activities which will bring the urgent needs of the Palestinian refugees to the attention of the international community.

This project restores the vital links between all tiers of Palestinian civil society and reconnects them through a process of participatory democracy and needs-assessment.
